Think truffles are only for the cooler months? Think again!
Native to Italy, the tuber aestivum is a black summer truffle that grows from May to September in the woodlands of the Piemonte, Emilia-Romagna, Marche, Umbria, Lazio, Abruzzo, Campania, and Molise regions. Widely known by the name of scorzone, these black tubers are milder than their winter cousins, making them perfect for adding an exquisite touch to many summer dishes.
And this summer, for the first time ever, we are celebrating this unique variety of truffles with a Summer Truffle Festival at Eataly starting on June 15! Every day we're trufflin' with complimentary tastings, hands-on cooking classes, truffle dishes in our restaurants, and shop all things truffle in our marketplace.
