Harvested in mid-September to mid-October, Chianti Classico is made from at least 80% Sangiovese grapes (though often much more!) and is a staple of any table in Toscana. The Chianti Classico Consortium was founded in 1924, to safeguard its trademark and the bond between the Black Rooster wine and its production zone. By 1984, Chianti Classico earned DOCG status, ensuring that all Chianti Classico wines are made in this designated region and according to very specific production requirements.

This fall, join us at SERRA d'AUTUNNO for a special wine dinner series featuring Chianti wines and some of the city's top sommeliers! Guests will have the opportunity to dive in the world of Chianti with Chianti di Notte, a series of events with top New York sommeliers who will be pouring their personal Chianti picks, including select Chianti Classico wines produced exclusively in the designated region. Check out the schedule and book your table for dinner – each somm will be pouring from 5-10 p.m. every Thursday in October!
