SERRA by Birreria is a seasonal rooftop restaurant located on the 14th floor of Eataly NYC Flatiron. Meaning “greenhouse” in Italian, SERRA changes with the seasons, always offering a rustic menu reflective of the Italian countryside that you can enjoy all’aperto (outdoors) on a blooming rooftop escape.

Escape the hustle and bustle of Manhattan to relax at SERRA FIORITA, our “flowering greenhouse” focusing on top local produce and seasonal ingredients sourced both regionally and from Italy’s best producers, an extensive cocktail menu (think: Italian-style gin and floral-infused drinks), and an explosion of a blooming Italian summer atmosphere inspired by 3D pop-up books.

Inspired by the food and drink of the Italian countryside, SERRA offers a rustic menu that changes with the seasons. Our chefs source the very best ingredients that each season provides us with, working with both artisanal Italian producers and local U.S. farms. In fact, check the map on your menu and you’ll find that much of our produce is farm-fresh and sourced from the tristate area, chosen by our chefs at the Greenmarket right here in the city. Throughout the menu, you’ll find ingredients from local farms, from Norwich Meadows Farm and Migliorelli Farm upstate to Lani’s Farm and Blue Moon Acres in New Jersey.

Italian food and gin and tonic at Eataly rooftop

Our newest seasonal menu features plates inspired by classic flavors of Italian summer, with a focus on local verdure, or vegetables. Don’t miss antipasti like the Fior Fiore: an Italian saying meaning “the best of the best,” this starter features Raw Seasonal Produce from the Greenmarket with Fava Bean Puree. To capture the summertime spirit of this dish, we’ll be serving it to you in custom-for-Eataly flower-pot-style stoneware, designed by renowned Manhattan-based ceramic artist, Jono Pandolfi. Since 2004, their studio has been creating handmade ceramics for chefs around the world.

The menu also features two standout Trout dishes, sourced sustainably from rivers in the countryside. Highlights include Trota Crudo, prepared with Fennel Pollen, and Seared Trout, prepared with Heirloom Tomato, Lani’s Farm Mixed Cucumbers, and Market Radish.

And on the cocktail menu? Get ready to Build Your Own Gin & Tonic with Malfy Gin! Legend has it that 11th century Italian monks mixed juniper berries and other local ingredients to make their own spirits. Distilled in Moncalieri in Piemonte since 1906, Malfy Gins are made with handpicked wild ginepro (juniper), coriander, and five other botanicals. Select a flavor, from the classic Originale to the refreshing Limone, then choose a tonic and garnish to match.

As for vino, SERRA FIORITA boasts an extensive wine list, with a special focus on Moscato and Vino Libero wines (a consortium of 12 wineries across Italy and which are produced sustainably, feature no chemical residuals, and have minimal to no sulfites). Moscato is a white grape, and the oldest known variety grown in Piemonte. Fragrant, fruity, and often sweet, Moscato wines balance the forward flavors of smoked, salty, and spicy foods, creating a harmonious pairing for your meal.

Serra Fiorita at Eataly NYC Flatiron

Every other Thursday, starting August 13

At SERRA FIORITA, we want you to have your flowers and eat them, too – so we've put together a biweekly Thursday special menu called "Cene Fiorite," or flower dinners. From August 13, each Cena Fiorita will be a chance to dive deeper into the worlds of our local producers, and will be dedicated to the life cycle of a flower and all its elements – from the whole flower to the seeds and pollen. Flowers can be used in a variety of ways when cooking, and the dishes featured will showcase these edible flower elements and cooking techniques. Each menu will be paired with select wine and cocktails, and our chefs will walk you through the floral-inspired experience right at your table. Book your table for every other Thursday!

Kids urban gardening club, part of the Seed to Plate initiative by GrowNYC

We’re proud to be part of GrowNYC’s Seed to Plate initiative, a program that teaches New York City fifth and sixth graders about our food system. Here at Eataly NYC Flatiron, we’re sponsoring 75 Morton Street/MS 297, a public middle school that opened in 2018 after years of parent petitioning due to overcrowded middle schools in the area. In order to help keep their Seed to Plate programming going, we are donating a portion of the proceeds from Serra Fiorita to GrowNYC’s Seed to Plate programming. Funds from this donation will support the school’s rooftop garden. Learn more about how Eataly NYC Flatiron gives back.
