SERRA by Birreria is a seasonal rooftop restaurant located on the 14th floor of Eataly NYC Flatiron. Meaning “greenhouse” in Italian, SERRA changes with the seasons, always offering a rustic menu reflective of the Italian countryside that you can enjoy all’aperto (outdoors) at a rooftop escape.

For the first time ever, SERRA d'AUTUNNO - Honey + Harvest will be dedicated to one theme only: honeybees! With a brand-new beehive-inspired look, SERRA d’AUTUNNO – Honey + Harvest dives deep into the world of honey and fall, so you can indulge in an extra sweet escape. Join us to enjoy dishes made with top local produce and seasonal ingredients sourced both regionally and from Italy’s best producers, an extensive cocktail menu (think: honey-infused drinks), and an all-new honeycomb ambiance.

Inspired by the food and drink of the Italian countryside, SERRA offers a rustic menu that changes with the seasons. Our chefs source the very best ingredients that each season provides us with, working with both artisanal Italian producers and local U.S. farms. You’ll find that much of our produce is farm-fresh and sourced from the tristate area, chosen by our chefs at the Greenmarket right here in the city. Throughout the menu, you’ll find ingredients from local farms, from Norwich Meadows Farm and Migliorelli Farm upstate to Lani’s Farm in New Jersey, and local apiaries too, like Straight From The Hive and Tremblay Apiaries.

Fall menu at Serra d'Autunno rooftop restaurant

Our newest seasonal menu features local and Italian high-quality ingredients, with a focus on local producers and Italian miele, or honey. Highlights will include antipasti like the Zucca E Stracciatella, a roasted honeynut squash with housemade stracciatella cheese, hazelnuts and drizzled with honeysuckle honey. Pair cheeses and honey with Nettare e Formaggi, a selection of Mieli Thun honey from different regions of Italy, perfectly paired with regional Italian cheeses like Linden Honey and Guffanti Robiola Due Latti from Piemonte.

Then warm up with the Stinco di Maiale al Miele, featuring Mieli Thun Forest Honey glazed pork shank, and served with stewed Greenmarket root vegetables and thyme-poached apples. And of course, don't miss out on honey-infused housemade dolci, too!

And on the cocktail menu? Get ready to warm up as the cold kicks in with The Bee’s Teas, a build-your-own beverage program in which you can craft your own cocktail by selecting a tea, a honey and a spirit, curated by our experts. Guests will also be able to discover idromele (mead), which is created by fermenting honey with various fruits, spices, grains, or hops, and refreshing honey beers both local and Italian, will be available as well.

As for vino, SERRA d'AUTUNNO boasts an extensive wine listwith a special focus on Chianti Classico. Chianti Classico DOCG is composed of 80-100% Sangiovese grapes that thrive in the crumbly, stony soil of the specific area of Toscana. With notes of tobacco, leather and sour cherries, Chianti Classico DOCG is a perfect pairing for the menu our chefs have prepared.

Honey and bees decor Eataly rooftop restaurant

Did you know that one in three bites of food you eat depends on bees? These insects are a key component of our ecosystem, as they preserve the balance in nature. By pollinating plants, they allow these plants to reproduce. Unfortunately, modern agriculture and environmental changes are endangering honeybees and the practice of beekeeping, so preserving them is our duty for the future of the planet (learn more about bees and how honey is made here).

It is with this mindset that Eataly has decided to partner with the Bee Conservancy, a public charity based in New York, established in 2009 in response to the bee crisis. For every purchase of a honey-focused dish at Serra d’Autunno, Eataly will donate 10% of the net proceeds to their Sponsor-a-Hive program, which places honeybee hives and native bee homes with community organizations across the U.S. and Canada. Look for the bees on the menu!

Ti aspettiamo!
