Taste Rare Wines at Eataly NYC Flatiron

Taste Rare Wines at Eataly NYC Flatiron

Ever wonder what a 1982 Barolo DOCG tastes like? Now's your chance to find out. Starting this September, get a taste of history with rare wines by the glass and by the bottle at Il Pastaio, La Piazza, and Il Pesce – sip before they disappear!

Yes, you heard that right – these are unique bottles of Italian wines up to 30 years old, and we're offering them to you by the glass!

With that first crisp chill in the air, there's no better moment to fall for Italian wines. While our amici were hitting the beach last month, we were searching through our reserves to find you a selection of one-of-a-kind Italian vintages found nowhere else.

At Eataly, we believe in giving you the opportunity to try something new, all while you learn the stories of the place it comes from and the people who made it, to expand not just your palate, but your mind, too. That's why we are offering a selection of 25 bottles and three wines by the glass – with the option to choose your own size! – at Il Pastaio, La Piazza, and Il Pesce.

WHAT MAKES A WINE 'RARE'?

From a magnum of sparkling 1999 Collezione Privata Brut from Mirafiore in Piemonte to a 1997 Ciallabianco Ronchi di Ciallia from Friuli-Venezia Giulia, from a 2000 Macchiona from La Stoppa in Emilia-Romagna (produced by one of Italy's leading female winemakers) to a 2015 Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo from Edoardo Valentini in Abruzzo (there's only one of this extremely special rosato – we meant it when we said "rare"!), our rare wine list spans the Italian peninsula through a curated selection of very special bottles.

So, what makes a wine rare? These bottles – found in our reserves, dusted off, and pulled from our cantina by our Eataly wine experts – must be one of the following: they were either produced on a specific plot of land, are no longer produced, or were bottled up to 30 years ago and only a few bottles are left in existence.

HOW IT WORKS

When it comes to our selection of rare bottles, we're excited to offer you just as much of a taste as you want. Want to enjoy our rare wines by the glass? Choose from our curated menu and pick your perfect pour:

TASTE: Try a small pour of the rare wine of your choice as our Eataly sommeliers tell you the story behind the vintage.

SIP: Looking for more than just a taste? A sip will offer you a half-glass pour so that you can enjoy a bit longer.

INDULGE: Go for the full glass! After all, these wines are rare for a reason – it might be your only chance to enjoy a glass of Italy's best, and oldest, vini as curated by our wine experts.

As they pour your choice and you begin to inhale the complex notes of these rare vintages, our sommeliers will tell you the story behind each bottle (some up to 30 years old!), walking you through your tasting with insights into the vineyard and producer's location, the terroir, the grape variety, and more. Of course, if you can't get enough, you can always order by the bottle as well – it's up to you!

Italy has over 350 varieties of grapes and produces some of the finest wines in the world, and our Rare Wines program will have the best of the best on the menu for you to enjoy.

Keep an eye out for these special, limited-time menus and book your table now to enjoy our rare wines this fall – don't miss your chance to taste history!
