Explore New Harvest Extra Virgin Olive Oils

As Italians, we take our olive oil as seriously as we do our wine. We believe that authentic extra virgin olive oil, such as Olio Toscano IGP (certified Tuscan olive oil), is one of the most important products you can have in your home. We use it to moisturize our skin, revitalize our hair, and of course, in the kitchen — from finishing dishes to sautéing to even pure tasting!

Just like wine, high-quality extra virgin olive oils take a careful process to create. Every fall, olives are harvested across Italy, then carefully pressed and transformed into the culinary gold of oil (explore the full process!). But unlike wine, olive oil is best enjoyed as fresh as possible — and we just received the oils from the latest harvest, from Toscana and beyond!

EXPLORE THE HARVEST

Right now, those olives harvested in 2016 are ready to enjoy! Our buyers and experts visit regional Italian estates to guarantee quality and authenticity, in addition to partnering with consortia like Olio Toscano IGP. Many olives are still handpicked at these traditional Tuscan farms.

As a result, we have the largest selection of boutique single-estate Italian extra virgin olive oils in New York! And now, they're easier to find than ever, since we've moved our olive oil section just past the entrance on 23rd Street. Find them right in the spotlight where they can be celebrated as they deserve to be. Stop by, chat with our experts, and let us help you discover your new favorite olive oil!

TUSCAN TREASURE

While we love all Italian extra virgin olive oils, one of the most prized of this liquid treasure is Tuscan olive oil. Toscana produces some of the finest extra virgin olive oils on the planet. For centuries, Tuscan producers have passionately grown local olive cultivars, including Frantoio, Moraiolo, Leccino, and Olivastra Seggianese. Following regional tradition, these olives are harvested early in the season, when the fruit is still green.

While this technique produces less oil, it delivers a better taste. Olives that have earned the certification for Olio Toscano IGP are known for their signature aromas of freshly-cut grassbitter herbs, and a lingering black-pepper finish. These oils are ideal to cut through and brighten up dishes, such as the classic grilled bruschetta, soup, pizza, pasta, and grilled steak. (Let's be real: at Eataly, we think every dish deserves a final drizzle of olive oil — including gelato!).
