The Prime Black Angus New Porterhouse Steak from LaFrieda is made with high quality 100% USDA Prime Black Angus Beef (only 3% of all beef in the USA receives the "Prime" grade). Pasture-raised and grain-finished, resulting in the perfect taste and buttery fat content, our Black Angus cattle graze on lush pastures and are raised with no antibiotics, no added hormones, and no artificial ingredients.
There is a lot of speculation about where the name porterhouse was derived: some believe the porterhouse steak has its roots in the porter house, a name used for a pub or alehouse that also served food. It has also been argued that the porterhouse steak got its name from the porter, a popular beverage served at these taverns. Another publication takes this idea a step further by asserting that a Manhattan porter house owner named Martin Morrison allegedly served the first porterhouse steak in 1814 with ale. Regardless of where it gets its name, it is truly a grandiose steak, cut from the middle to rear section of the loin, a combination of NY Strip steak and filet mignon separated by the tell-tale T-shaped bone. The presence of the bone of course adds to the flavor and succulence of the cut.
The greatest of New York steakhouses can be mimicked in your own kitchen with this Prime Black Angus Portehouse steak!
