A typical dish of coastal Italy, padellata di mare features an array of seafood cooked in a large pan with garlic, herbs, and olive oil. In other words: it's the Italian version of a clam bake!

Padellata di Mare (Panful of Seafood)

Recipe courtesy of Eataly

Yield: Serves 4

2 ½ pounds assorted seafood of your choice (think: mussels, clams, crab, shrimp, and lobster)
1 garlic clove
red chili pepper flakes, to taste
1/2 cup dry white wine
1 bunch fresh parsley, finely chopped
10 cherry tomatoes, halved
4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, to taste
salt and pepper, to taste
fresh bread, cut into thick slices and toasted (optional)

In four easy steps, you are on your way to having an Italian-style clam bake! To find the freshest seafood for your padellata, just stop by the fish counter at your local Eataly.

Carefully wash the mussels and clams. If using shrimp, remove the shells and devein. Finely chop the garlic. In a large pan, heat the olive oil and gently saute the garlic and red chili pepper flakes for about one to two minutes.

Add the clams and mussels covering with a lid. Cook for about two minutes over high heat, then add the halved cherry tomatoes and shrimp, crab, etc. Continue to cook on low heat until the cherry tomatoes have softened and begin to form a broth.

Sprinkle with chopped parsley, season with salt and pepper and continue cooking for another three minutes. Taste the broth and adjust any seasonings.

Serve with slices of toasted bread and a glass of white wine or beer. We suggest DogFish Sequench Ale!

Buon appetito!
