You know Brazilian Carnival, and New Orleans Mardi Gras, now get ready for rue Italian Carnevale! On Tuesday, February 21, celebrate traditional Carnevale in true Italian style at our all-inclusive night of Venetian masks, drinks, and bites! (Gondola not included; low risk of falling into a canal.)
WHAT IS CARNEVALE?
Carnevale is a period of wild celebration and feasting that culminates on Martedi Grasso (Fat Tuesday), the day before the fasting period of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. During the celebrations, which can last from a day to a month, revelers are free to eat, drink, and dance without reproof. From north to south, Italy boasts dozens of unique carnival traditions, from the Battle of the Oranges in Piemonte, the beautiful costumes in Venice, to the spectacular folk poets in Sicilia. During this time of year, the streets of Italy are crowded with colorful costumes, elaborate masks, and confetti: the Carnevale celebrations are in full force!
At Eataly Dallas’s first-ever Carnevale, explore stations of Italian fare spread throughout our marketplace, including cicchetti (small plates that traditionally line the counters of little bars for an aperitivo), fresh pasta, risotto, housemade focaccia, fresh mozzarella, and endless traditional desserts! Indulge in decadent Italian fritters traditionally made only at this time of year. Give in to the thin, crispy ribbons of chiacchiere ("chatter"); doughy, chocolate-filled balls of bugie ("lies”); round, cream-filled castagnole ("chestnuts") or crescent anise zeppole (sweet fried dough bites) of southern Sardegna. You can't go wrong — so we suggest you try all of them anyway!
Sparkling, white, and red Italian wines will be flowing, as well as local beers, and cocktails. Between the food and drink, enjoy live entertainment, face painting, workshops, and more during this all-inclusive event!
In partnership with the Dallas Bach Society, the live entertainment includes musicians, actors, and performers. The Dallas Bach Society has historically been the Southwest’s primary resource for Baroque music on original instruments. The Dallas Bach Society unites the finest vocalists and instrumentalists in lively and informed performances of Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Purcell, Monteverdi, Couperin, and Schütz: all the great music from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, both masterpieces familiar to music lovers, and those awaiting their discovery.
And do not miss the Costume contest! Show off your best outfit, or traditional Venetian costume and mask! There will be a costume walk on stage and by popular vote, the winner will receive a $1,000 Eataly gift card!
Come and celebrate the Dallas first-ever Italian Carnevale at EATALY! Starting at $95 per person, tickets include unlimited food, drinks (yes, that means beer, wine, and cocktails!), and entertainment for the entire evening.
