About this Event: Part of Eataly’s Vino Camp Series, join us this month to learn all about Amarone! In this private session, enjoy an intimate dinner inside Eataly’s Bar Milano restaurant, where you will sit alongside Antonio Cesari to taste the top selections and best vintages of Amarone from the Brigaldara estate. This elevated dining experience is an exclusive opportunity to discuss and learn directly from the winemaker while enjoying a multiple-course chef-curated meal paired perfectly with these unique wines.

About Amarone: Hailing from Veneto, Amarone is produced in Valpolicella, a winemaking area that boasts rolling hillsides and a mild to cool climate. Unlike other wines, Amarone undergoes a very unique process prior to fermentation. In late October, grapes are harvested and allowed to dry for around 120 days with a technique know as appassimento. After the grapes have dried, they are crushed and fermented at low temperatures for one to two months. Finally, the wine is ready to be aged in oak barrels, typically for five or more years. The use of partially dried grapes helps concentrate the juices and increases skin contact, giving the wine a ripe, full-bodied flavor and alcohol content of 15% or higher. No other wine is made this way, making Amarone a truly unique vino. In Italian, Amarone means "the Great Bitter," thanks to its tannic, yet pleasantly bitter finish without being acidic or sharp on the palate. This silky red often boasts a ripe, full-bodied texture and an almost chocolatey flavor with hints of red cherry and dried fruit.

About the Producer: Brigaldara has owned it's land and produced wine in Valpolicella since the year 1100, with records from the time showing that the land consisted of a small farmhouse that cultivated vines, olives trees, fruit trees, and cereals. After centuries of consistent wine production, the version of Brigaldara as we know it today was formed in 1928 as Azienda agricola Brigaldara. Today Brigaldara covers nearly 300 acres of land, about 116 of which are planted with vineyards, while the rest consist of olive groves, crops, pastures, and woods. Brigaldara interprets Valpolicella in its most authentic nuances, while maintaining unique biodiversity and sustainable practices, both in the vineyard and in the cellar.
