Eataly’s selection of sweets comes from producers steeped in history. During the Neapolitan wars of the 1860s, cacao was strictly rationed. In the region of Piemonte, confectioner Pier Paul Caffarel started to experiment with the local hazelnuts that flourish in Le Langhe hills. It’s said that he created the first “gianduja,” the beloved chocolate hazelnut spread. To this day, Caffarel, Baratti & Milano, Venchi and Golosi di Salute, use the same prized Le Langhe Hazelnuts IGP to make their gianduja and chocolates. For 150 years in Torino, Leone has been crafting artisan candies and producers like Mieli Thun and Bastianich preserve the ancient art of honey collection.

Mieli Thun Linden Blossom Honey is produced in the Valsugana-Trento region of Italy at the end of June. It has a golden yellow to amber color. Noted for its fresh scent, which is reminiscent of the linden flower, it possesses an intense flavor of fresh, slightly minty spices. Its taste is medium-sweet and very long, with fresh walnut tones and a delicately bitter aftertaste.

Mieli Thun's Alpine Honey produced in Dolomiti di Brenta,Trento has a distinctive amber color that is sometimes naturally darkened by honeydew. Produced in July and August and not as sweet as other variations, this honey has a clear aroma of Indian ink and cooked artichokes, with predominant notes of quinoa and rhubarb.
